Job Summary:



The Metis Foundation is seeking a Full-time, Exempt Human Resources Administrative Assistant to join our team and help build and maintain our operations in Bethesda, Maryland, and across the USA. The Human Resources Administrative Assistant will report to the Human Resource Manager and will provide essential day- to-day administrative and operational support to the HR department. This position plays a vital role in ensuring efficient HR processes and positive employee experiences by supporting onboarding, employee engagement initiatives, record keeping, and other HR functions.

A key focus of this role is coordinating new hire site in-processing from start to finish, which involves managing multiple documents, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and communicating with various site departments to facilitate a smooth onboarding process.

This position will be in support of The Metis Foundation Core Office and work closely with the Metis programs located at Uniformed Services University, specifically the Military Cardiovascular Outcomes Research program (MiCOR) in Bethesda, Maryland. The MiCOR Program is intended to understand the impact of military service- particularly precision medicine, stress, weight gain, exercise, and pharmacotherapy- on cardiovascular risk.

The mission of the MiCOR Program is to enhance the cardiovascular health and well-being of the Warfighter and the DoD community through innovative clinical research using precision techniques. MiCOR has a variety of clinical research studies focused on both the biomedical and behavioral components that contribute to cardiovascular risk and disease. The selected candidate may be required to obtain a Secret Clearance and undergo credentialing before beginning work. This work site requires that non-US citizen incumbents have lived in the US for three consecutive years out of the past five years.

Responsibilities:



Lead and coordinate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions, including: Partnering with Principal Investigators and Program Managers to identify required skills, competencies, and experience for open positions. Create job descriptions and advertise open positions on our hiring sites. Screen resumes, coordinate interviews, and assist with the selection and offer process Coordinate and assist with new hire orientation, onboarding, and required training for both the Metis Foundation and affiliated PEOs, ensuring smooth integration at site locations. Maintain and update employee records with new hire information, employment changes, and other personnel updates in a timely and accurate manner. Serve as the local HR point of contact through regular communication and site visits, fostering strong relationships with employees and program teams. Process and track employee transactions, including transfers, job classification changes, salary adjustments, and other employment-related actions. Respond to employee inquiries in a professional and timely manner, providing accurate guidance and support. Assist in the implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures across the Foundation. Support the payroll process by reviewing and verifying employee timesheets for accuracy. Assist with reviewing and processing reimbursement requests through payroll. May assist with accurately inputting and reconciling data in accounting software, ensuring payroll allocations align with award or contract requirements. Support business development and recruiting initiatives by representing the Metis Foundation at exhibitions, conferences, and networking events. Act as a liaison and active partner between Principal Investigators, research teams, and administrative departments, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Qualifications, and Abilities:



Bachelor's Degree 2+ years of business administrative or human resources experience preferred Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Extensive knowledge of office management systems and procedures. Ability to operate general office equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Compensation Range:

$50,000.00 - $55,000.00 base annual salary

Physical Capabilities



Ability to frequently remain in a stationary position; operate a computer and other standard office equipment; visual capacity to review and edit documents; converse by telephone and in person. Some bending, lifting up to 30 lbs., and grasping.

Work Environment



Work is performed in a professional office environment that includes the operation of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, calculators, and filing cabinets. Moderate noise levels. This position consists of a hybrid schedule, 3 days' work from home and 2 days in the office.
