POSITION PURPOSE

This position will be responsible for a variety of administrative functions including data management, recruiting and benefits administration in support of human resources operations. The role will exercise sound judgement and discretion due to the confidential nature of the information being processed.



ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



Recruiting/Hiring

Schedule interviews and track applicant status Post employment ads on company website, internet sites (ie: Indeed, LinkedIn, college websites) Conduct phone screens Initiate and track assessment tests, background checks and medical screenings for candidates in hiring process Prepare materials for interviews, offers and orientation packets Represent SSAB at selected career fairs and school events

Data Management

Track completion of employee performance evaluations and ensure timely completion Prepare and maintain employee personnel files Maintain accurate data in HRIS and spreadsheets File maintenance

Employee Relations/Communications

Assist with communication and implementation of HR initiatives Coordinate employee service recognition award program Assist in planning process for special activities and events

Benefits and Policy Administration

Assist employees with general benefits information inquiries Coordinate random drug testing program

Training

Serve as back-up for New Hire Orientation Assist with coordinating developmental trainings Administer employee tuition reimbursement program

QUALIFICATIONS - Education, Experience and Competencies



Required:



Associates degree or a minimum of three years experience in the HR field Knowledge of Human Resources processes and functions Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to prioritize tasks and work at fast pace Strong organization skills, attention to detail and accuracy Analytical and problem-solving skills Regular and reliable attendance

Preferred:



Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field Prior experience with an HRIS database Recruiting experience

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES / DIRECT REPORTS

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.



WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position operates in a professional office environment in which the employee will be frequently required to:

Sit and stand for extended periods of time Walk to/from work areas in office and alternate work areas Use hands to finger, hold, handle and feel Reach with hands and arms Work at a desktop/laptop computer Use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners and postage meters Filing and handling materials

The employee will occasionally be required to:



Stoop, bend, twist and lift, carry items weighing up to 30 lbs

The position requires the following vision and hearing capabilities:

Talking person to person, on the phone, and/or in group settings Hearing in person, on the phone, and/or in group settings Vision at near, mid, and far range

POSITION TYPE - WORK HOURS - TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Position is full time, non-exempt, and is eligible for overtime Position works an eight (8) hour day shift, Monday through Friday, occasional overtime or off hours will be required Office presence required Travel for this position is limited and expected to comprise less than 10% of work hours - valid drivers license is required
