Summary
About the Role
Under Executive Zahilay's leadership, we are making King County a high performing, transparent government delivering services that improve residents' lives. In support of our staff and this vision, we are seeking a detail-oriented and collegial Human Resources Analyst.
Under the direction of the Administrative Services Manager, the Human Resources Analyst will have the primary responsibility for managing the department's payroll and supporting position management.
Job Duties
Key Responsibilities * Process payroll and/or timekeeping transactions using various software programs including PeopleSoft modules.

  • Process overtime, attendance, holiday pay, action pay, step increases, leave donations and all other routine maintenance functions.
  • Review and prepare payroll reports, forms, and statistical data such as attendance and time reporting charts, tables and graphs.
  • Support new hire position entry and new employee orientation onboarding registration.
  • Support position management in all units of the Executive department; including creation of new positions, deactivation of inactive roles,
  • Support administrative and payroll aspects of leave processing following department HR designation.
  • Provide support in the handling of departmental annual merit transmittal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • In the office a minimum of 3 days a week. Meetings may not have a call-in option for required in-person days, and the expectation is to be in the office.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Ideal Candidate
  • Knowledge of King County payroll production, processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of King County human resources policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of record keeping and monitoring procedures.
  • Skill in comparing records and data for accuracy; and researching/reconciling errors and discrepancies.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to respond to unanticipated requests and work in a high-pressured environment with strict deadlines while remaining calm and professional.
  • Strong ability to organize and multi-task, working with various forms of data.
  • Work cohesively with a team to meet objectives as well as work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven experience validating and reconciling reports.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office Excel, proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills (with diverse audiences) orally, written and in person and the ability to be diplomatic and sensitive while effectively communicating information.
  • Ability to research and compile information.
  • Skill in working with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
