GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The city of Evanston is a small Rocky Mountain community that is a 45-minute drive from the world-famous ski slopes of Park City, Utah. Evanston\'s area is excellent for recreational activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.

This position will be responsible for OT assessments, group and individual interventions, and team consultation for clients with mental illness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
  • Meets the patient\'s goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results and determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIP).
  • Promotes maximum adaptation, resilience and independence by developing and facilitating therapies according to the individual\'s personal strengths, physical capacity, cognitive level, and interests.
  • Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patient\'s progress and recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications.
  • Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other team members.
  • Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers with Recommendations for Assistance when ordered by an LIP.
  • Complies with federal and state, certification/licensure requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Performs administrative duties which may include participating in continuing quality improvement programs, department meetings with occupational therapy and therapeutic services, preparing for student interns, taking inventory, and ordering supplies
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy practice, principles and procedures in relations to people with mental illness.
  • Knowledge of mental illnesses including symptoms and disease processes
  • Knowledge of selection process and objectivity in conducting a variety of OT Assessments
  • Knowledge of the current Occupational Therapy Practice Framework and Domain
  • Knowledge of OT treatment approaches/theory
  • Knowledge of the clinical application of sensory interventions
  • Knowledge of functional activities to improve and/or restore performance.
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor\'s Degree (typically in Occupational Therapy)

Experience:

0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Occupational Therapy)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Licensure or eligible for licensure in the State of Wyoming as an Occupational Therapist.

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, pull, and push up to 50 lbs.
