Brief
This position serves as a human resource generalist with key areas of contribution in recruitment efforts, reporting, and employee life cycle paperwork. This position plays a critical role to support the university's mission on recruitment ensuring all steps are handled promptly and professionally and to support newly hired and current employees throughout their career.
The HR Generalist will serve as a resource to employees and collaborate with members of the campus community developing collegial working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels. This role requires someone who is organized, detail-oriented, has excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills, and can act with integrity and professionalism including sensitivity to personal and confidential information.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate the recruitment processing including providing assistance to users in the applicant tracking system; monitoring positions as they are created, posted, and closed; provide training on search procedures and navigation; assist candidates and users with questions to move through the hiring process smoothly; troubleshoot issues; maintain data in system.
Assist with reports, surveys, and lists including state and federal requests, SUNY requests, data management, and requests from various departments.
Understand and process all types of paperwork for an employee's life cycle which includes job posting, onboarding, new hire, contracts, performance programs, training, retention, and exit interviews.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
Progressively responsible experience as a professional in human resource management.
Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws including state and federal employment.
Experience working with HRIS and other web-based management systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in report writing software.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional experience in human resource management in a public, unionized setting.
Professional experience in human resource management in a higher education setting.
Professional Human Resource Management Certification (i.e., PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR).
