Job Description


The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is seeking an HR Associate to provide HR support to department leadership and employees within all subject matters of Human Resources. This position provides support to all of Orthopedics. Duties to include:

  • Coordinate recruitment activities for Professional & Scientific (non-bargaining), Merit, Student, and Postdoctoral Research Scholar positions. This position will be the support all positions within research. This includes posting jobs, reviewing applicants, scheduling interviews, making selection recommendations, and creating offers.
  • Responsible for Leave and Disability tasks within the department.
  • Manage new provider credentialing and recredentialing. Ensure provider licensure and certifications are up to date.
  • Manage the visitors and job shadow process for department.
  • Responsible for immigration process for department.
  • Monitor and follow-up on department compliance requirements.
This position is eligible to participate in remote work 1-2 days per week. Remote work must be performed at a location within the state of Iowa. Successful candidates who participate in remote work must comply with requirements of the remote work program and related policies.

Education Required A Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of six months to one year of recent experience in human resources (Within last 5 years). Experience as student or intern will count towards requirements.
  • Prior experience in multiple HR program areas, including recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and classification and compensation.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer software applications.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting human resources
Desired Qualification:
  • Experience working with an organized labor force.
  • Knowledge of University HR policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Orthopedic HR processes and procedures.
