Performs varied work that supports Human Resources and requires general knowledge of office systems and procedures in a fast paced, guest service environment.
SUPERVISION:
Work is performed under general supervision. Depending on work assigned, reports to the Director of Human Resources.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Human Resources Support:
Assist with recruiting efforts including job postings, prescreening, schedule of interviews, and candidate communication.
Coordinate and support job fairs and recruiting events for the District and with fellow business partners.
Conduct new hire orientation and ensure completion of onboarding documentation.
Enroll employees in selected benefit plans and assist with benefit related inquiries.
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of personnel and benefit records.
Assist with annual open enrollment process and plan selection, execution and communication.
Enter and updates employee data in HRIS system.
Help ensure policies are up to date and distributed.
Assist with scheduling and coordinating employee training and track training completion and maintaining training records.
Maintain and update employee files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Payroll Support:
Audit and process payroll data including missed punches, paid time off, holiday, deductions and garnishments.
Communicate with departments to resolve timekeeping discrepancies.
Submit retirement hours and wages after each payroll processing to Department of Retirement Systems.
Prepares information to be transmitted to outside payroll processing and outside benefit vendors.
Employee Engagement & Communication:
Prepare and distribute the quarterly employee newsletter, new hires and other employee communications needed.
Responds to employees' request for information in a timely, attentive and professional manner.
Reserves meeting rooms and prepare materials for HR-related meetings.
Coordinates logistics for employee appreciation and wellness activities.
Promotes excellence in internal and external guest service.
Oversee monthly employee safety committee meetings, annual election and year end appreciation event.
Office Support:
Serves as back up for compiling and submitting public records requests.
Provides administrative support to the Executive Assistant and CEO when needed.
Performs related work as assigned.
Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or its equivalent; AND two years of human resources experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Must be customer service oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently.
Ability to work in a challenging environment dealing with sensitive issues and maintain confidentially with strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving, organizational management, and time management skills.
Ability to maintain professional, courteous, and effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and outside contacts.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, machines and of business English and arithmetic.
Ability to type accurately and efficiently, with basic math aptitude.
Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Experience keeping records and preparing reports.
Highly organized and able to pay close attention to details.
SALARY AND STATUS:
$25.21 - $35.29 Non-Exempt
