Job Description


Position Summary:

Terral RiverService, Inc is seeking to hire a HR and Benefits Coordinator located at our administrative offices in Vicksburg, MS. The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, employee benefits, records retention, payroll support, onboarding, and HRIS maintenance. This position reports to the Human Resources Director.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs customer service functions by addressing general employee requests and questions.
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Assist with the administration of health, retirement, and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Maintains employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details.
  • Supports the Payroll Department assuring payroll is processed accurately and timely.
  • Periodically interviews prospective candidates in support of recruiting efforts
  • Assist with company-wide recruiting campaigns (career fairs, school visits)
  • Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process.
  • Prepares new-employee files and maintains current employee files.
  • Assists with record audits and mandatory reporting, which may include I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews.
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
  • Performs all other duties as instructed.
Skills and Expertise:
  • At least twenty one (21) years of age.
  • Maintains a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
  • Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills are essential.
  • Has a solid understanding of Human Resource best practices, including employee benefits and payroll.
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in high pressure situation.
  • Must have excellent organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality at all times.
  • Has experience navigating and maintaining Human Resource Information System (HRIS) is preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in human resources, business, communication, or related field with at least 2-4 years of experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS and/or related software.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of working in an office environment.
  • Must be able to lift objects not exceeding 20 pounds on occasion.
  • Must be able to travel periodically, including light overnight travel.
