Job Description

The Housing Navigator assists and advocates on behalf of Dignity of Choice participants to locate, secure, and retain permanent housing. The Navigator plans and coordinates services, identifies appropriate housing options, and interacts with landlords and other organizations on behalf of participants. The Navigator uses a comprehensive knowledge of housing and other supportive services to facilitate linkages before, during, and/or after permanent housing has been established, and works with participants to enhance their skills in utilizing these various resources. This position also serves as a general housing resource for participants of the Dignity of Choice program.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:



34% Housing Resource Identification

Market the Dignity of Choice program to potential landlords and property management companies.

Research, identify, engage, and build relationships with private market landlords and property management companies.

Build and maintain a portfolio of private market housing options.

Develop and maintain a robust Housing Resource Guide, including public and private market resources.

33% Pre-Tenancy Supports

Assess program participants for housing needs and preferences; Support participants with locating and applying for housing based on the assessment responses.

Educate participants about the apartment search process.

Set up, prep, and support program participants with apartment viewings.

Support participants with completing applications and paying applicable fees; Support participants to obtain proper documentation for unit applications.

Advocate to landlords or property managers on behalf of program participants and ensure Fair Housing laws are adhered.

Support participants with lease signing.

33% Housing Placement & Supports

Support tenants with identifying and securing move-in resources, i.e., security deposit, furniture, household items, etc.

Build and support participant tenancy skills, including understanding the lease, tenant responsibilities, budgeting, handling emergency situations, etc.

Develop and provide post-move-in supports, including but not limited to, neighborhood resource list, emergency contact information, and eviction prevention resources.

Respond in a timely manner to tenant and/or landlord concerns; Provide conflict resolution/mediation supports when disagreements or issues occur between the tenant and landlord.

Advocate as needed on the tenant's behalf to ensure housing placement and maintenance.

Develop and facilitate tenancy skill-building workshops.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $53,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
