Job Description

The RCH Environmental Services Technician performs a wide variety of duties to clean and disinfect Ringgold County Hospital facilities and ensure a safe environment for all patients, visitors, and staff. The EVS Tech, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and patient experience.



This position will work 4, 10-hour week days, 7:00 - 5:30

Essential Functions:

Routinely cleans and disinfects facilities, special use rooms, restrooms, patient rooms, exam rooms, operating and procedure rooms, administrative offices, and other clinical departments. Performs duties while demonstrating knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements. Accountable for maintaining appropriate checklists as accurately as possible Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of equipment and areas of assignment according to procedure and policies. Demonstrates understanding of training and educational recommendations for proper cleaning and disinfection. Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives Maintains supplies and equipment by properly stocking and restocking environmental services cart and closet in a neat and orderly manner. Removes trash and waste to appropriate disposal area Follows all environmental and infection prevention practices (i.e. hand hygiene, proper PPE donning and duffing, Etc.) Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA) Maintains clean and aseptic conditions in assigned area by vacuuming, dust mopping, wet mopping, damp dusting, making beds, removing trash, washing windows. Performs a variety of linen processing tasks which may involve hand or machine operations; machines include washing machines and dryers. Hand operations include folding, sorting, stacking and carrying. Fills and unloads washing machines and changes soap dispensers. Fills dryers. Collects soiled linen or distributes clean linen, as needed. Reports any malfunctions of equipment to supervisor. Prepares linen carts and delivers to floor. Attends meetings or training sessions as required. Moves furniture inside and outside of hospital. Works assigned shift/shifts, weekends and holidays, as scheduled. Follows confidentiality policy for patients and co-workers. Performs all tasks management requests within legal and moral constraints. Is knowledgeable of hospital policy and procedures as they relate to worker's job. Maintains working knowledge of hospital fire plan, disaster plan, tornado plan and what the worker's duties are for each plan. Answer phone and relay messages to supervisor. Practices critical thinking skills to include prioritizing duties and immediate needs (stat cleans) Demonstrates personal accountability and performs job requirements in a timely manner

High School Diploma or GED.



Must be able to speak, read and write fluent English.



Understands HIPAA regulations and privacy of patient and employee information.



Mandatory Reporter Certification for both Child and Adult

Ringgold County Hospital

RCH is an affiliate of MercyOne. Services provided by our 16-bed critical access hospital have expanded far beyond inpatient care. We now provide same-day outpatient surgeries, infusion therapy, cardiopulmonary rehab, physical therapy, sleep studies, medical imaging, and more.



The hospital also owns and operates the Ringgold County Ambulance Service and the Mount Ayr Medical Clinic. We also regularly host specialty outpatient clinics, so our patients have access to the specialist care they need, when and where they need it. Mount Ayr Medical Clinic

is our rural health clinic located within Ringgold County Hospital. The current facilities were built in 2009 and features modern, large, and spacious. The physicians at Mount Ayr Medical Clinic treat patients of all ages between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The clinic also functions much like an urgent care facility, treating those without life-threatening symptoms but who require immediate medical attention.

Mount Ayr is located near the Iowa - Missouri border and is the county seat of Ringgold County, Iowa. Surrounding communities include Diagonal, Kellerton, Tingley, Ellston, Beaconsfield, Redding, Delphos, Maloy, Sun Valley Lake, and Benton.
