Cornell Forge is a recognized leader in the forging industry with a longstanding reputation for producing complex parts. Our facility is located just south of Chicago in Bedford Park.



We are currently recruiting for a 3rd Shift Hot Inspector. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, preferably in steel, forging or machining. Applicants must be organized, self-motivated and able to complete tasks unsupervised.

Essential Functions:

Take hourly samples directly from the hammer/press in an efficient and safe manner. Thorough visual inspections of the part for imperfections. Dimensional inspection of parts using a caliper, micrometer, height gage, etc. Hourly non-destructive Magnaflux testing. Promptly inform supervisors of non-conformances during production. Perform dimensional studies, layouts, and capability studies. Accurate entry of tracking information and inspection data into Excel. Assist with corrective action investigations. Using forklift to transport material as needed Practice safe work habits and follow safety rules.

Salary:

$18 - $20, depending on experience

Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience using inspection equipment (calipers, height gages, etc.) Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a safe manner around hazardous equipment. Strong blueprint reading and comprehension. Have a continual improvement mindset. * Ability to manage multiple tasks.
