Job Description

The Host/Hostess is the first and last point of contact for guests, creating a welcoming and organized dining experience. This role is responsible for greeting guests warmly, managing reservations and seating, and ensuring smooth communication between the dining room and service staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Warmly greet and welcome

guests upon arrival, providing a positive first impression of the restaurant.

Manage reservations and waitlists

using the designated system (OpenTable, Resy, or handwritten logs).

Escort guests to their tables

and present menus in a courteous and efficient manner.

Monitor table rotations and seating flow

to ensure balanced server sections and timely guest service.

Answer phone calls

promptly and professionally, providing information about the restaurant, menu, and special events.

Assist in maintaining cleanliness

and organization of the host stand, entryway, and restrooms as needed.

Communicate effectively

with servers, bussers, and management regarding guest needs, allergies, or special occasions.

Thank guests upon departure

and invite them to return.

Assist with to-go orders

and other front-of-house tasks during peak hours.

Qualifications:

Previous restaurant or customer service experience preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer and phone-handling skills. Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours). Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Frequent bending, reaching, and carrying.
