Position Summary:



Under the direct supervision of Food & Nutrition Services Management, the Host/Hostess will perform a variety of food service tasks including but not limited to patient services operations, cafe operations, espresso operations with a focus on providing excellent customer service, teamwork, and courtesy. Assist with dish duties as well as other related duties. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

How you'll contribute:



Maintains work area in a clean, neat and organized manner using proper sanitation methods. Completes daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule, as well as additional cleaning tasks as assigned by management. Properly handles the flow of food utilizing proper sanitation and safety requirements through each stage of the flow of food: receiving, storage, preparation, cooking, cooling/reheating, and holding/serving. Performs duties according to appropriate safety regulations at all times. May perform the following: Demonstrates excellent customer service skills on a daily basis. Is knowledgeable of the daily specials and items offered in the cafe and for room service. Accurately sets up and delivers trays cording to tray/ticket protocol and within appropriate timeline Moves quickly and efficiently throughout the hospital when performing job duties Provides courteous and compassionate service to patients, guests, and staff Consistently provides pertinent information to Patient Services Coordinator on a regular basis and as needed Adheres to all infection control practices Assists in dish/dish room tasks. Handles dish/dish room tasks according to proper sanitation and flow procedures and with a positive can do attitude. Prepares and portions food to ensure that menu is accurate to diet, items are appropriate to menu with food served attractively while following established processes. Maintains proper portion control. Has basic understanding of modified patient diets. Follows age specific guidelines Consults with Food & Nutrition Services Management or Dietitian as needed. Documents required temperatures appropriately on a daily basis. Maintains appropriate quantities of hot and cold foods during meal times. Keeps Chef or other designated person informed if more food is required. Operates cash register as appropriate. Key in proper price and makes change correctly. Key in appropriate payment types i.e. cash, payroll deduct, check, debit, credit, or gift card. Maintains security of money. Accurate and timely deposits. Demonstrates responsible oversight of beverage preparation and food service at Espresso Bar. Maintains appropriate quantities of supplies during peak times. Demonstrates competence in maintenance of Espresso Bar equipment to maintain sanitation and safety standards. Assists with daily Catering needs as assigned. Is knowledgeable of foods being offered for cafe requests. Adapts as needed to last minute Catering changes. Assists in prep for following day. Responsible for proper storage processes including but not limited to: Rotating stock and foodstuffs as needed using FIFO method and proper labeling and dating techniques. Maintains storerooms, coolers and freezers in an organized manner. Maintains par levels of requisitions and fills and delivers daily requisitions to various units using proper labeling and dating techniques Maintains and completes Patient services forms including but not limited to: Tray Tracking Temperature logs Requisition forms Completes annual education requirements. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Adheres to safety practices outlined in departmental procedures when using equipment. Trains other Food & Nutrition workers as needed. Assist Food Service team members as requested and able. Provide backup coverage during breaks, vacations, and illness. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


High school diploma or equivalent preferred Required Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Licenses: Food Worker's Card Required
