Position: Host - 87 Sussex

Position Summary:

Hosts are responsible for the first impression made on guests at 87 Sussex, greeting them with warm hospitality, managing reservations and walk-in guests, and helping to facilitate the flow of service at the front of house. Hosts will provide impeccable hospitality to each guest, working specifically with each need to create the best possible dining experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Exudes warmth and hospitality in all correspondence with guests and team members. Greets guests and determines the best way to accommodate their needs: offering reservations, sending guests to the bar, and maintaining a waitlist when necessary, all while constantly communicating with the guests. Maintains a strong working knowledge of 87 Sussex reservations software and policies. Coordinates large party reservations, private dining requests, or special circumstances with management. Actively engages with guests, before, during and after their dining experience. Encourages walk-ins and bar business. Completes opening and closing checklists Attends mandatory meetings. Adheres to posted schedules. Communicates all necessary guest information with the team to set everyone up for success (allergy alerts, VIPs, special requests, celebrations, etc.).

Required Skills and Abilities:

1 year minimum of restaurant service experience in a fine dining concept or similar caliber concept Fluency in written and spoken English High school diploma or GED Ability to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, per the needs of the business Excellent time management and organizational skills Adaptable in a fast-paced and challenging work environment Polished personal presentation that meets Company standards Exudes excellence in hospitality both for both guests and other team members Passion for exceptional hospitality, food, and beverages
