Job Description

Hospital Policy Administrator is responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing hospital policies, ensuring compliance, and providing expert advice on policy matters to hospital staff and management. They conduct research, analyze data, and recommend policy changes to optimize efficiency and improve patient care. Maintains daily operations of the policy software system. Interacts with department, organization, and vendor to build, maintain, and support Policy Management System and associated processes. Ensures policies entered into the system are maintained in accordance with hospital policy.



Policy Development and Implementation:

+ Draft, review, and update hospital policies and procedures, ensuring they are accurate and up to date.
+ Develop and implement new policies to address emerging issues and improve hospital operations.

Policy Analysis and Evaluation:

+ Evaluate and offer recommendations and guidance to streamline policy oversight process and overall organization of policies.
+ Analyze data and identify trends to inform policy development and implementation.
+ Evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and make recommendations for improvements.

Consultations and Communication:

+ Provide guidance and advice to hospital staff and management on policy matters.
+ Communicate policy changes and updates to relevant stakeholders.
+ Represent the hospital's interests in policy discussions with external organizations.

Participation in policy committee activities:

+ Contributing to the development and review of policies.

Provide guidance to policy owners:

+ Assisting departments in meeting regulatory and accreditation standards.

Provides training:

+ Educating staff on policies and procedures, ensuring they understand and follow them.

Collaborates with other departments:

+ Working with different teams to develop and implement policies that are relevant to their specific areas of responsibility.

Monitor revisions and additions:

+ Ensuring consistency across departments and maintaining a centralized policy database.

Assist with editing and formatting:


Helping to create clear and concise policy documents.



Education Requirements:



Required: Bachelor's Degree + Graduated from an accredited school of nursing, master's degree in nursing, business, or healthcare administration

License or Certification Requirements:



Preferred: License + Mississippi RN license or Compact state RN license

Experience Requirements:



Required: Five (5) years of experience in a healthcare facility; with three (3) years of experience in, quality management, performance improvement, or risk management performing data mining, informatics data analytics, standard methodologies for data extractions including queries Preferred: 1-3 years of experience in policy analysis or related field, ideally in a healthcare setting
Knowledge:


Clinical knowledge regarding disease management Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office with advanced proficiency in Excel Policy Management database Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Organizational standards and regulatory requirements
Skills:


Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of healthcare policies, regulations, and compliance requirements Ability to conduct research, analyze data, and prepare reports Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
Abilities:


Collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with diligence and accuracy Strong time management and organizational skills Excellent leadership, interpersonal, presentation, and critical thinking skills Effective communication skills
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a healthcare/office environment


Physical Demands: Frequent reaching, sitting, walking , and standing may be required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job
