We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Hospice Director to lead our hospice care team. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of hospice services, ensuring high-quality patient care while managing operational and administrative functions. This leadership role requires a strong background in healthcare management, nursing, and specialized knowledge of hospice and palliative care practices. The Hospice Director will be responsible for maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, managing staff, and fostering a patient-centered environment that respects the dignity of residents and their families.
Duties
Lead and coordinate hospice care services, ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations including HIPAA compliance.
Oversee the development and implementation of individualized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including case management and nursing staff.
Supervise clinical staff including nurses, social workers, and support personnel; provide mentorship and conduct performance evaluations.
Ensure accurate documentation review and maintenance of medical records using EMR systems; monitor documentation for compliance with healthcare standards.
Manage patient monitoring processes to ensure timely interventions and quality care delivery, focusing on physiology and anatomy knowledge for symptom management.
Oversee budgeting processes, resource allocation, and operational efficiency to optimize service delivery within financial parameters.
Collaborate with physicians, Medicare representatives, and other healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive care for residents' .
Conduct shift management to ensure 24/7 coverage; oversee staffing schedules to maintain optimal patient care levels.
Facilitate training programs related to medical terminology, documentation review, and case management protocols.
Promote a culture of leadership within the team that emphasizes compassionate care, continuous improvement, and resident satisfaction.
Requirements
Proven experience in critical care, assisted living, home health, or hospice care settings; prior nurse management or supervisory experience is essential.
Strong understanding of acute care, home care, and hospice services along with familiarity with EMR systems.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medical records management.
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising multidisciplinary teams; ability to manage shifts effectively.
Background in budgeting, resource planning, and operational oversight within healthcare environments.
Familiarity with Medicare regulations and compliance standards related to hospice services.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with residents' , families, staff, and external agencies.
Relevant licensure or certification in nursing or healthcare administration is required; a background in case management is preferred.
