Job Description

The Horticulture Supervisor position will be responsible for supervising and coordinating work crews assigned to activities and operations of the Horticulture and Forestry Division. Supervise and participate in skilled and semi-skilled activities and functions of the division. Perform highly technical services for the division such as create and review landscape and/or irrigation plans with specifications, complete and monitor pesticide applications, provide plant health care, maintain plant collections and make selections for ordering materials. Assist manager to lead, schedule, delegate, and provide inspections for the work of assigned to City staff or citizen volunteers responsible for providing horticulture services on City owned properties and public right of way. Review work in progress and assist to correct deficiencies. Provide, coordinate, and evaluate staff training and performance. Assist manager in providing specifications and work plans for contracted projects and provide oversight. Lead staff with snow removal in assigned areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in horticulture, landscape architecture or related field. Three years of increasingly responsible experience in the field of horticulture including one year of lead supervisory responsibility. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid commercial driver's license (CDL), a commercial pesticide applicators license, an arborist certification and First Aid and CPR certification.
