High School Language Arts Teacher

Qualifications: Requires a valid Missouri teaching certificate in High School Language Arts.

Position Summary: To create an educational program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a quality education, in accordance with each student\'s ability; establish good relationships with parents and with other staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teaches district approved curriculum and adheres to adopted Board of Education policies.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
• Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Learns and implements strategies to instruct students in higher level of learning.
• Uses technologies to enhance instruction.
• Must be able to effectively organize and prioritize work.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
• Evaluates students\' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
• Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
• Must be able to give and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Other duties may be assigned.
