Position Summary

We're seeking

dedicated High School English and Math Tutors

to join our growing team in Martinsburg, WV.

The ideal candidates are passionate educators with deep content knowledge, professionalism, and a genuine desire to see students succeed. Tutors will support students across a variety of academic levels -- from core classes to honors and advanced coursework -- helping them strengthen comprehension, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

In this role, you will also help students

prepare for West Virginia's standardized assessments

, including the

West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVGSA)

and the

SAT School Day

, which serve as the state's official measures of college and career readiness.

What You'll Teach

English Language Arts (ELA):

Reading comprehension and literary analysis across genres Academic and persuasive writing (argumentative, explanatory, and narrative) Grammar, vocabulary development, and conventions of standard English Speaking and listening skills for discussions and presentations Research, evidence-based writing, and citation practices Alignment with

West Virginia's College- and Career-Readiness Standards for ELA

Mathematics:

Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and College Algebra (all levels) Support for honors, merit, and advanced-track students Concept mastery, critical thinking, and problem-solving strategies Preparation for

SAT School Day math assessments

and classroom exams

Responsibilities

Provide

individualized, in-person tutoring sessions

for high school students Reinforce core concepts and strengthen test-taking and study strategies Create and deliver

lesson plans aligned with WV standards and student goals

Prepare students for

WVGSA and SAT School Day

exams

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians

about student progress

Track and document performance

to monitor growth over time Foster a

positive, motivating learning environment

that builds confidence

Qualifications

Required

Teaching or tutoring experience

in high school English and/or Math Strong understanding of

core high school curriculum

and content standards Excellent

communication skills

, professionalism, and reliability Degree or active enrollment in

Education, English, Mathematics, or a related field

Reliable transportation and ability to pass a background check

Preferred

Familiarity with

West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards

Experience preparing students for

WVGSA, SAT, or other standardized exams

Experience working with

honors, dual-enrollment, or college-bound students

Ability to make complex concepts

engaging, relatable, and confidence-building
