St. Mary's Academy is seeking an energetic and experienced High School Dance Coach to lead and grow our developing dance program. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, structure, and a passion for building a positive, high-performing team culture.
This position is responsible for organizing and coaching the SMA High School Dance Team through the winter season, with the goal of expanding the program into a CHSAA-sanctioned competitive team within 2-3 years. The coach will work with students to provide instruction in dance fundamentals, choreography, and performance technique, while fostering teamwork, school spirit, and discipline.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:



Oversee practices 4 times per week during the winter season. Assist and advise in student led development of routines for performances at a minimum of five (5) home basketball games. Coordinate and prepare the team for participation in at least one outside competition or showcase during the season. Foster a positive and inclusive environment that emphasizes growth, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Collaborate with the Athletics Department to build the long-term vision and structure for the SMA Dance program. Manage team communication with students and families regarding schedules, performances, and expectations. Oversee student-athlete eligibility, attendance, and conduct in line with SMA standards. Manage students' selection of choreography, music, costuming, and logistics for performances and competitions. Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive practice environment.

Qualifications/Requirements:



Education and qualifications should include the following:

High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Can manage sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality Prior dance coaching or choreography experience required (high school, collegiate, or club level preferred). Strong background in one or more dance disciplines (pom, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, etc.). Ability to teach technical skills while inspiring confidence and enthusiasm in student-athletes. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Commitment to the mission and values of St. Mary's Academy. CHSAA certification or willingness to complete required training prior to the season start. Valid Drivers License A sense of resonance with the St. Mary's Academy mission.

Salary/Benefits:



This is a part-time seasonal position and the stipend range for this position is $2,000-$2,500 depending on experience. Benefits are not provided for this position.
