Job Description



Coordinate the clerical processes and performs various direct patient care activities, procedures, and other indirect services under the direction of a registered nurse.
Responsibilities \xe2\x80\xa2 Effectively prioritize job responsibilities in an environment that has multiple demands/requests for various services that occur simultaneously while demonstrating knowledge, willingness and flexibility to meet the needs of the customer. Activate and respond appropriately to emergent and urgent situations. Recognizing prioritizing categories for work processes. \xe2\x80\xa2 Coordinate the clerical processes for admission, transfer, discharge and death for all patients inter hospital and intra hospital in a timely and efficient manner per policy \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintains patient medical record regarding thinning, labeling and providing appropriate forms for documentation according to policy. \xe2\x80\xa2 Legibly and accurately transcribes orders utilizing knowledge of policy and procedures and legal documentation on patient record \xe2\x80\xa2 Courteous, positive, and effective verbal and non-verbal communication utilizing interpersonal skills and technology available. \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintain confidentiality of patient, staff, unit and institution information. \xe2\x80\xa2 Identify and report real or potential customer concerns. \xe2\x80\xa2 Assist with unit maintenance related to ordering and receiving supplies, medications, manuals, and equipment. \xe2\x80\xa2 Assist in the orientation of new staff. Act as a resource to new interns, residents, RNs, and other health team members regarding procedures related to computerized ordering of clinical services and maintenance of medical records. \xe2\x80\xa2 Assist with procedures as determined by hospital policy procedure and regulatory guidelines. \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintain a neat, clean, safe and cost effective patient and unit environment. \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide optimum assistance to the medical and nursing staff by providing/ assisting patient with direct patient care including activities of daily living and daily assignments as delegated by RN. \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintain and perform all functions with equipment as applicable to work area. \xe2\x80\xa2 Accurately monitor, analyze, and interpret rhythm/arrhythmias \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide appropriate documentation and communication related to interpretation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department\xe2\x80\x99s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Common Duties and Responsibilities (Essential duties common to all positions) 1. Maintain and document all applicable required education. 2. Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations. 3. Comply with the company\'s attendance policy. 4. Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution. 5. Perform work in a cost effective manner. 6. Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations. 7. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned.
Education \xe2\x80\xa2 High School Diploma or GED (Required) Experience: Basic knowledge of Med Assist and/ or Medical Terminology
