Salary: Entry Level: $38,611.20 ($3,217.60 per month, $23.20/hour) HE-04, BU:10

Full Performance: $41,750.40 ($3,479.20 per month, $25.09/hour) HE-06, BU:10

We are seeking a Health Care Aide-Entry Level or Full Performance for the Physical Therapy department to join the Hale Ho\'ola Hamakua hospital team. This position is responsible for providing routine, non therapeutic exercises in accordance with established methods and procedures. The position may also assist therapist/assistants with setup and clean up of equipment and supplies

Honokaa is located on the north side (Hamakua Coast) of the Island of Hawaii, and has a quaint Old-Hawaii small town atmosphere. The town is filled with history and was once a large cattle and sugar industry. It\'s surround by fertile pastureland and today\'s farms produce a variety of corps, many of which are organic.

PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE ENTRY LEVEL

Experience and Essential Knowledge and Abilities: One (1) year of experience in working with patients in a hospital, facility or program which demonstrated knowledge of basic spoken and written English; life skills which include activities of daily living (i.e., eating/feeding, providing fluids, bathing, dressing, etc.), recreation and leisure, etc.; and the ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate effectively with others in English; follow oral and written instructions precisely; and get along well with others.

PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE FULL PERFORMANCE LEVEL

In addition to the qualifications required at the entry level:

Experience and Essential Knowledge and Abilities: One (1) year of work experience in a unit which involved participation in the provision of routine, non-therapeutic general exercises within predetermined plans which demonstrated the acquisition of a good working knowledge of exercise procedures and techniques pertinent to general exercise programs; knowledge of procedures and common medical terminology; use and care of appropriate equipment and supplies, orthotic and prosthetic devices and wheelchairs; applicable hospital/facility/program policies and procedures; the ability to take vital signs; assist and participate in the activities of the unit; communicate and deal effectively with patients and their families; and work effectively with others.

Substitutions Allowed: * Successful completion of a physical therapist assistant curriculum from an accredited school may be substituted for all the work experience required, or
  • Successful completion of all requirements for a baccalaureate degree in physical therapy from a school approved at the time of their graduation, by an agency recognized by either the United States Department of Education or the Council on Post-Secondary Accreditation; or in the case of a foreign-trained person, a credentials evaluation agency recognized by the appropriate licensing agency of the State of Hawaii, indicating completion of an education program that has been determined to be equivalent to entry level Physical Therapist education in the United States, may be substituted for all the work experience required.
CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is preferred. Please submit copy of certification with the application.

Desirable Qualifications: Oral and written communication skills; good observation skills and ability to report/record accurately; positive attitude; and be self-motivated.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, two-step tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays, based on hospital operations (services are provided 24/7.
