Health and Fitness Specialist

assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center.


The start date for the position is as soon as possible. The pay rate for the position is $22.36/hour, which is $46,500 over a year when working 40 hours every week. The work hours are 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday. The work schedule is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on alternating days Candidates must be able to work all schedules listed, on alternating days.

Responsibilities include:


Supervise exercise areas Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques Teach group exercise classes Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations Aid members - spotting and equipment usage Explain all equipment Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures Adhere to client?s policies and procedures Attend staff meetings Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events Perform daily administrative duties

Qualifications:


B.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or in related health/fitness field,

OR

Active NCCA accredited national fitness certification (ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM, NCSF, NSCA or other NCCA accredited certification) Active CPR certification 0-1 year experience in supervising adults during exercises
