Who You Are and What You\'ll Do

The Head of Sustainability for North America will lead on the delivery of Compass goals that are critical to Unilever\xe2\x80\x99s business in the United States and Canada, spanning from Plastics, to Net Zero to Living Wage and Diverse Suppliers. The individual will support our category and brand strategies on sustainability across Personal Care, Beauty & Well-Being, Ice Cream, Nutrition and Home Care, lead on advocacy and partnerships to delivery programs, manage sustainability-led programs with key retailers to commmercialize sustainability, and provide subject matter expertise and know-how to Business Units and Functions present in North America. The person will also represent Unilever at relevant external leadership platforms and manage relevant external stakeholder relationships.

The role will report into the Chief Sustainability Officer, who runs the Global Sustainability Function, and is based in London, UK.

Translate global strategy and sustainability commitments/targets into North America-specific implementation plan/route map

Provide subject matter expertise to relevant teams in Business Units to guide them on policy, regulations, NGO campaigns, and local competitor landscape and insights to build knowledge and capability on key sustainability topics such as the Net Zero, Plastics, Deforestation and Regenerative Agriculture

Develop synergies and reduce complexities in delivery by providing a consolidated One Unilever overview for issues that affect multiple Business Units

Track and monitor progress of route map and course correct when needed to ensure on-time and on-cost delivery

Contribute to any mandatory or voluntary external sustainability reporting

Manage relationships with relevant local and global teams, particularly across Supply Chain, Procurement, Customer Development (Sales), Marketing and Communications/External Affairs

Lead on relationships with the global and local Customer Development (Sales) teams and sustainability counterparts at key retailers to build long-term value propositions that help commercialize sustainability and advance progress on the aligned sustainability commitments for Unilever and retailers such as Net Zero, Deforestation, Plastics, and Living Wage.

Serve as a focal point for colleagues across the country for expertise and guidance on sustainability topics

Drive advocacy and partnership strategies to accelerate, scale, and reduce barriers to implementation of Unilever\xe2\x80\x99s Compass

Represent Unilever at relevant external leadership platforms, advance advocacy priorities, and manage relevant external stakeholder relationships

Serve as a member of global Sustainability LT and the US Country LT

What You"ll Need to Succeed

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree required. Sustainability related is a plus!

Experience as a leader with proven ability to drive implementation and execution of complex global business strategies required

10+ years of experience driving sustainability topics including social, environmental and governance, and how these integrate into the business

Track record in implementing sustainability strategies within a business, across a spectrum of environmental, social and health and wellbeing issues

Ability to manage relationships and senior stakeholders within a complex matrixed organization

Access to an external network of sustainability stakeholders a plus

Ability to analyze issues systemically and look for solutions beyond our own operations/company; Ability to negotiate on sensitive subjects; Ability to work in high pressure environment;

Willingness to challenge the status quo;

Experience leading, developing and inspiring a team of professionals.

What We Can Offer You

Pay: The pay range for this position is $200,000 - $280,000. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
