Position Overview

The head coach provides leadership of the program through teaching, coaching, mentoring, character development, and recruiting high quality student-athletes. The head coach is also accountable for all aspects of a Division I sport program, including but not limited to: compliance, budget, scheduling, staff oversight, etc.

Responsibilities

Establishing a positive team culture and promoting exceptional student-athlete experiences Evaluating and recruiting academically qualified and athletically talented student athletes Develops and maintains relationships and communication with student athletes, colleagues, university staff, alumni and other constituents Organizing and conducting team workouts and competition Arranging a Division I schedule and team travel Managing the operating and scholarship budgets Selecting and managing any assistant coaches Partnering with development staff to plan and participate in fundraising activities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree At least 5 years of coaching experience The ability to work effectively with student athletes, colleagues, and the campus community. Thorough understanding of the rules and regulations related to Butler University and NCAA Division I Outstanding verbal communication and leadership skills.
