Head Coach / Junior Varsity Girls BasketballSeason: WinterDate Range: December 2025 - March 2025Location: Nantucket High SchoolJob Goal: To organize, train, and coach the designated team connected to this applicationEducation: High School graduate or GEDSpecific requirements: CPR/First aid certification, online concussion course completion, CORI/SORI checks and fingerprinting. Paid employees must complete town hire paperwork. Professional Certification: Candidates must complete certifications as required by MIAA and NPS Athletic Department Specialized Knowledge: Solid foundation in student-centered coachingKnowledge of the developmental needs of adolescentsUnderstanding of theories and methodologies for coaching adolescentsUnderstanding of the academic, social, and emotional needs of adolescentsUnderstanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justicePreferred Experience: Experience coaching in a diverse public school preferred but not requiredExperience working with students with disabilities/special abilities preferredExperience working with students who are English language learners preferredExperience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool preferred, but will train the right candidateSkills: Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performedAbility to create a welcoming team environment for student athletesAbility to coach and support students in improving their individual and team skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skillsBilingual skills are highly desirableCandidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleaguesCandidates must be flexible and collaborativeCandidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growthCandidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing, time-sensitive deadlines for work productionSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director of Athletics, Building Principal and/or Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements.Essential functions of the job: The information contained in this job description is for compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position. To fulfill the duties assigned by the Director of Athletics and Varsity Head Coach (if applicable). Nights and some weekends are expected. Successful candidate will have to complete all of the necessary trainings as assigned by Nantucket Public Schools. Coach will identify and address bias and its impact on rigor and opportunity for students Any other relative duties as assigned.
