The Baker is responsible for producing a wide range of
sweet and savory baked goods
for the cafe, including pastries, breads, pizza doughs, cookies, brownies, and specialty items. This role combines creativity and technical skill to deliver consistent, high-quality products that reflect the cafe's culinary style and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Produce a daily assortment of baked goods including
pastries, cookies, bars, scones, muffins, breads, and pizza doughs
.
Develop and execute
seasonal and specialty recipes
in collaboration with the kitchen team.
Ensure all baked products meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards.
Manage production timelines and par levels to meet daily service requirements.
Maintain accurate records of ingredient usage and assist with ordering and inventory control.
Operate bakery equipment safely and follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Keep the bakery area clean, organized, and compliant with health regulations.
Contribute to menu planning and new product development initiatives.
Support overall cafe operations and assist other team members as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum
1 year of experience
in a commercial bakery, cafe, or restaurant production environment.
Proficiency with
baking techniques
including laminated doughs, yeasted breads, and scratch-made pastries.
Strong
time management and organizational skills
in a fast-paced kitchen.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail, creativity, and commitment to consistent product quality.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred Skills
Recipe development and scaling for production batches.
Experience with menu costing and ingredient management.
Interest in local, seasonal, or artisanal ingredients.
Positive, team-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
