Position Summary & Responsibilities



Position Summary:



This position works collaboratively with the HCBS Waiver Program Managers to determine waiver program and functional eligibility. The Specialist reviews and processes information obtained from various sources in accordance with standard procedures, rules and regulations.


Processes and files all notices regarding HCBS client eligibility, and updates KAMIS administrative page as needed.


Follows up with KDHE on financial eligibility inquiries which come to KDADS.


Works with KDHE regarding WORK and STEPS transitions due to aging out of programs.


Works in collaboration with the KDADS HCBS Contracts Program Manager and appropriate assessing entities to assure all procedures are and reporting are adhered to for the HCBS waivers.


Works in collaboration with waiver-to-waiver transition team and institutional transitions/MFP transitions.


Manages HCBS waiver Waiting list, if applicable.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:



The Specialist serves as the main point of contact for program eligibility questions from assessing entities and MCOs, KDHE, and consumers and their families. In conjunction with the HCBS Waiver Program Managers, the Specialist shall approve or deny waiver eligibility following the guidelines set out by the waivers. The Specialist will issue 3160s and 3161s as appropriate, and update HCBS clients' KAMIS administrative page as necessary.

Work with KDHE regarding WORK and STEPS transitions.


Works in collaboration with the KDADS HCBS Contracts Program Manager and assessing entities to assure all procedures are followed.


Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks,and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary.

Qualifications



Minimum Qualifications:



One year of experience in professional administrative support work Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:



Knowledge of HCBS services system.
