Responsibilities

The Habitat Conservation Program Biologist provides critical administrative, logistical, and technical support to the Habitat Conservation Coordinator. This role assists in managing the project lifecycle, coordinating program logistics, and tracking key metrics for the Habitat Council and the Watershed Restoration Initiative (WRI). The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Project and Contract Support:
Maintain a central tracking system for all habitat projects, monitoring timelines, key deliverables, and reporting deadlines. Organize and file incoming project proposals; assist in preparing proposal packages for review by the Habitat Council and WRI regional teams. Assist with the contract process by routing documents for signature, verifying compliance, processing invoices, and maintaining organized digital and physical contract files.

Required/Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a combination of formal education or equivalent experience in natural resources, deep technical knowledge of habitat and wildlife management, and strong professional skills in communication and problem-solving.
Education & Experience (Candidates must have one of the following):
+ A bachelor's degree or higher in Wildlife Management, Rangeland Management, or a closely related natural resource field.
+ An equivalent amount of directly related work experience in the field. Core Knowledge & Technical Skills:
+ The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the principles, theories, and practices in several key areas:
+ Wildlife Science: In-depth knowledge of wildlife ecology, habitat requirements, and habitat restoration techniques. Land Management:

+ Knowledge of plant science and the ability to identify various wildlife, domestic animals, and plant species. Research:

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who have at least 3 years experience with the following:Tech Proficiency: High-level competence with Microsoft Excel, database management and GIS (ArcPro).
Contract/Grant Experience: Familiarity with the basics of grant administration, contract management, or procurement.

Working conditions:
Most work will occur out of the office with some occasional travel through out Utah to partner meetings and national conferences.
Typical work schedule is Monday - Friday (80 hours in two weeks).
This position may have the option of a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days.
Physical requirements:Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
