POSITION SUMMARY



If the church is like a hospital for the sick, the receptionist area is its emergency room--where first impressions and first encounters carry everlasting weight. At First Baptist Church of Glenarden, the Guest Services & Reception Ambassador serves as the front desk ambassador, representing both the ministry and the excellence of FBCG's white-glove standard. Whether answering a call from the White House or the jailhouse, the Guest Services & Reception Ambassador embodies warmth, professionalism, and Christian hospitality.


This position not only greetings and directions but also serve as calm triage professionals, responding to urgent needs with discernment and compassion. From ushering guests at homegoing services to navigating the busiest Sundays with the poise of friendly traffic officers, Guest Services & Reception Ambassador are the first reflection of the excellence, care, and dignity that defines FBCG.

The Guest Services & Reception Ambassador serves as the front desk ambassador and administrative support professional for First Baptist Church of Glenarden. This position is seated at the front desk and is the first point of contact for members, guests, vendors, and partners. The Guest Services & Reception Ambassador demonstrates Christian hospitality while providing efficient business services support, including administrative assistance, data entry, research, and project support. Dependability, excellent communication, and a strong service mindset are essential. The Guest Services & Reception Ambassador will balance traditional reception duties with expanded responsibilities that strengthen the overall effectiveness of the Business Services Department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet, direct, and assist members, guests, and vendors with professionalism and warmth. Answer, screen, and route incoming calls; provide accurate information on church activities, events, and services. Provide administrative support to the Business Services Department, including: + Data entry and recordkeeping for contracts, vendor files, and ministry requests.
+ Researching information to support departmental projects and reporting.
+ Assisting with preparation of cost savings and spend data reports.
+ Managing and distributing correspondence, emails, and documentation.
Maintain knowledge of the FBCG Annual Calendar, worship services, and major events to provide accurate information. Assist with registration and online event processes; guide callers and guests through sign-up procedures. Support funeral intake processes, including documentation and communication with designated staff. Maintain Sick Notice and Prayer List forms for staff distribution. Gather and share information about local social service resources (housing, counseling, etc.). Provide clerical support for new vendor request tracking and related correspondence. Collaborate with staff and ministries to ensure effective front desk coverage and customer service. Perform other administrative tasks and projects as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong organizational, administrative, and data entry skills with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to perform research and compile information for reports. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional phone etiquette. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and web-based platforms. Strong customer service skills with a Christ-like, gracious demeanor. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Team-oriented, resourceful, and adaptable with a positive attitude. Willingness to pray with callers and provide comfort when needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred. Minimum two years of office-based administrative or customer service experience. Prior experience supporting business services, vendor relations, or data/reporting tasks a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Seated position at the front desk with frequent computer and phone use. Ability to sit for long periods and perform repetitive movements. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs as needed.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be saved, have a servant's heart, and be a member, in good standing or willing to become a member in good standing of FBCG. Must be able to submit to authorities as defined by the Pastor. Must possess a gracious, Christ-like demeanor in demanding situations. Must have an understanding and appreciation for the ministry and the mission of FBCG.
