Project New Village is a 501(c)(3) grassroots nonprofit working to revitalize and transform the food supply system of Greater Southeastern San Diego. The Good Food District, which is Project New Village's model for neighborhood transformation, aims to elevate and integrate urban agriculture to increase access to healthy food and as a key component of community revitalization in food-insecure neighborhoods. PNV's mission is to serve as a catalyst for resident-led, community-rooted experiences that BUILD stronger neighborhoods; IMPROVE the neighborhood food supply chain; STIMULATE collective investment in better health; and MAXIMIZE the impact of investment to address social inequities. Located in Southeastern San Diego, near bus and trolley stops, Project New Village is seeking an organized VISTA to create systems to assist with scheduling and capturing volunteer hours; conduct outreach and recruitment activities to establish a pool of one-time and recurring volunteers; develop a volunteer manual, volunteer policies, orientation procedures, and a recognition program; and, create and pilot different volunteer-driven programmatic enhancements and/or events.
