The Grounds Worker - Greenway Structures position assists with the inspection and maintenance repairs of structures to include bridges, boardwalks, shelters, sidewalks, tunnels, fences, and other related structures. This position installs and repairs structures to include signs, benches, fences, shelters, tables, and other related amenities, is knowledgeable about the use of construction equipment to include circular saws, reciprocating saws, drills, angle grinders, tape measure and chain saws and performs preventative equipment maintenance, including replacing worn or damaged parts, and sharpening blades. This position assists the city in cleanup and repair during and after inclement weather situations and may require working extended hours and weekends during storm events. About You: The ideal candidate for the Grounds Worker position will be a reliable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused individual with strong communication skills and a solid work ethic. They should be team-oriented, with a passion for parks and community service. A valid NC Class "C" driver's license is required, along with the ability to operate park maintenance equipment and perform preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to high-quality work, safety standards, and community engagement. Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an outdoor and office environment, street environment (near moving traffic) and in or around vehicles. Employees may occasionally work on a construction site, in a warehouse environment, and shop environment.
