Position Summary

The Grounds Keeper is responsible for maintaining and improving the appearance and safety of all utility grounds. This includes landscaping, seasonal preparation, and upkeep of outdoor areas using hand tools, gas-powered equipment, and heavy machinery. The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and ensuring proper care and maintenance of all tools and equipment.

Essential Functions

Maintain grounds by mowing, trimming, raking, planting, watering, and fertilizing vegetation. Clean grounds and remove litter; ensure daily upkeep of property and surrounding areas. Service, maintain, and repair grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, trailers, dump trucks, loaders, fork trucks, wood chippers, snow plows, salt spreaders, and hand/power tools. Landscape new areas and repair damaged grounds; replace plants, shrubs, and trees as needed. Apply herbicides and pesticides to control plant diseases and pests. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and parking lots; spread salt during icy conditions. Order supplies for grounds maintenance, including equipment parts, blades, chemicals, and plants. Operate vehicles (car, truck, van) to transport workers, supplies, and materials. Report unusual or hazardous conditions on utility property. Assign tasks to laborers, seasonal employees, or inmate crews and monitor work quality. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of basic hand tools and gas-powered equipment.

Ability to maintain and service gas-powered tools and equipment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow verbal instructions and work safely. Physical ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions, lift up to 60 lbs, and climb ladders.

Other Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have and maintain a valid Arkansas Driver's License and be insurable under the Utility's policy. Loss of license is grounds for dismissal.

Pay: $12.00 - $18.00 per hour
