JOB DESCRIPTION:

A Fiber Optic Construction Crewman is responsible for supporting the aerial and underground construction efforts of our - North Carolina Project.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retrieve tools and parts as needed for the specific task at hand.

Keep the truck stocked and organized of required parts.

Clean truck out on a weekly basis.

Follow directives from supervisor relative to the job task at hand.

Install underground pipe/conduit to customer specifications

Operate underground equipment as required

Push/Pull Fiber Optic Cable through Conduit, or between poles

Help Install Vaults and Pedestals

Restoration of work sites

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

the ability to work safely, with or without supervision;

the ability to work standing, at shoulder height and overhead, for extended periods;

the ability to lift and manipulate lasher and other cable placement equipment;

the ability to work aloft, either from a ladder, aerial lift device, or by gaffing;

excellent manual dexterity;

the ability to follow instructions and communicate verbally and in writing;

OTHER DUTIES:

Completion of low level and high level labor intensive tasks as well as operation of assigned construction equipment.

Completion of daily production reports to document work performed.

Use of hand tools, ladders, and equipment to assist in the completion of an assigned project.

Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and work areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Additional Underground Construction Crewman Duties as assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must present a positive, professional image to employees, customers, and clients in all interactions.

Must have strong communication skills and experience working with customers.

Must have a strong working knowledge of basic hand tools including a powered drill.

Have problem-solving skills and able to think on your feet.

Have a general working knowledge of computers.

Ability to work evenings and weekends.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must have a valid driver's license

Must be able to pass a nationwide background check and drug screen.

Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Certification

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to varying temperatures as work is primarily outside.

Noise levels are moderate to heavy.

Work in different types of terrain including water, sand, and dirt.

Varying degrees of light as work may begin early morning and continue in the evenings and overnight.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to carry 60-70 1bs, to include an extension ladder.

Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb and lift throughout work shift.

TRAVEL

Travel from home with multiple overnight stays is required with this position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must possess a valid Driver's License during the term of employment.
