Best Match Program Details:

A program that provides new graduate nurses with the experience of four adult inpatient units (Fitch, a medical unit; Fuller, a surgical unit; the Geropsych Unit; and Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit). Following several weeks on each unit, the nurse will apply for a position on the unit that will be the best match for him/her.

The new graduate nurses will apply for a position in the program and interview with the Nurse Manager, Float Teams & Supervisors. Nurses hired into the program will orient for several weeks on each of the three units. Following the orientation on each unit, the nurses will identify which unit(s) are the best fit for them. A Nursing Development Specialist will check in with the nurses weekly to provide guidance and support.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, delivers care to patients and families with needs ranging from basic to complex utilizing the nursing process. Creates a therapeutic and caring environment for patient and families. Practices in a manner consistent with the Elliot Hospital Interprofessional Practice model; the ANA\xe2\x80\x99s Social Policy Statement, Scope and Standards of Practice, and the Nursing Code of Ethics; and relevant specialty standards of practice.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelors of Science in Nursing Preferred.

Experience: Nurses who are hired as new graduates with a temporary license are placed into this level.

Licensure: Graduate Nurse status is designated for those individuals who hold temporary licensure to practice under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This status is maintained from date of hire until the issuance of a permanent license by the New Hampshire Board of Nursing.

Technical Certification: Ability to obtain BCLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment.

Professional Certification: Nurses are expected to pursue professional certification upon eligibility or within three years of entering the specialty practice.

Software/ Hardware: Ability to advance basic computer skills as the health system adds new systems or performs upgrades to existing systems.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Schedule: Work schedule may include 8-12 hours per day with weekend/holiday coverage based on individual unit needs. Personnel are expected to cover for absences by rotating, working extra shifts, or use of on-call as needed. Nursing personnel are assigned to one area upon employment, but may be required to assume assignments in other areas to meet patient needs.
