HOW YOU'LL HELP US KEEP CLIMBING (OVERVIEW & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)

The Operation Research - Optimization team at Delta is seeking an operations research intern to help build or enhance state-of-the-art decision support tools applying leading edge optimization techniques and latest technology.


An appropriate candidate will have technical knowledge of operations research models and strong computer science skills. Strong candidates will be self-motivated and exhibit excellent critical thinking skills, the ability to synthesize complex problems and create solutions that add value to a myriad of business needs. Ideal candidates have more than just knowledge or skill set, as they also have a "can do" mindset to find solutions.


Primary Functions:

Performing data analysis and preparing data for models and algorithms Provide quantitative expertise in the form of models, consulting, and software development Design, develop, implement, and calibrate optimization products Formally report results in a concise and understandable way Practice safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being

This is a graduate-level role. Applicants must have already completed an undergraduate degree and be currently enrolled in or actively pursuing a graduate-level program such as a Master's, MBA, or PhD.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

Minimum of three years of Ph.D. coursework completed Completed Undergraduate BA/BS in Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related field Proven success in solving complex quantitative problems Robust knowledge of optimization techniques Solid programming skills (Python, C++, etc.) Experience with commercial optimization solvers (Gurobi, Cplex, Xpress, etc.) Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
