performs work involving a substantial amount of customer service and telephone contact; Answers all incoming telephone calls in a courteous and polite manner; Reserves future tee times for the Gold, Emerald and affiliate Blue golf courses; Provides assistance to all guests and customers and acts as an information center for the Gold/Emerald Golf Pro Shops. Performs Pro Shop Assistant functions including but not limited to collecting all fees for golf play and daily check-out and clearing of the balancing/closing of daily transactions, preparing daily sales and cash reports, deposits, etc. This position is directly supervised by the Golf Shop Supervisor but may also receive direction from the Guest Service Supervisor, Head Golf Professional, Golf Shop Lead, designated Manager on Duty, and may the Director of Marketing & Sales.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Greets arriving and departing golfers in a friendly, courteous and polite manner.
Answers all incoming telephone calls on the Golf Shop's public line in a courteous and polite manner, using proper telephone techniques and etiquette.
Reserves future golf tee times for the Gold, Emerald and affiliate Blue golf courses and enters reservations into reservations computer system. Schedules golf lessons for PGA professionals.
Provides players, guests and visitors with premium level customer service, courtesy and enthusiasm expected from a world-class resort in accordance with the Company's established customer service standards.
Receives and responds to facsimile requests for individual and group future tee times. May also assist in the facilitation of group bookings.
Provides assistance to all guests and customers and acts as an information center for both Golf Pro Shops and the Wailea resort in general.
Provides potential customers with reservation and pricing alternatives, to alleviate their concerns and to retain the booking.
Collects all fees including: green fee, cart fee, club rental and repair, shoe rental, club storage, driving range, lesson fees and merchandise sales.
Performs or assists in performing daily check-out and clearing of the balancing and closing of daily transactions; preparing and depositing of daily receipts; and preparation of daily sales and cash reports.
Services and sells both hard good and soft good merchandise.
Performs general housekeeping functions and assists in maintaining merchandise displays.
Observes all house rules and regulations, including, but not limited to safety regulations, following safe practices in the performance of duties/assigned tasks and practices good housekeeping in designated work areas.
Assists in periodic physical inventories.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
May perform other Pro Shop, Merchandising and Retail Sales duties as required or, other duties as assigned by Supervisors.
Qualifications/Skills:
Must possess an abundance of patience and excellent customer service skills to perform work requiring extensive public contact.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication and telephone sales skills.
Basic Computer skills necessary; familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, excel, Word and POS/Tee sheets helpful.
Knowledge of golf is highly desirable.
Previous experience in retail, reservations bookings and/or hotel/resort preferred.
Physical Requirements/Environment
Regularly experiences sitting and working at a computer workstation (while performing reservationist duties), attention to detail, concentration and alertness, vision, hearing, working indoors in an air-conditioned office. Regularly experiences standing while performing pro shop assistant and retail sales duties.
Frequently experiences reading, writing, use of a multi-line telephone, listening and receiving information, listening, speaking and talking to others while performing reservationist duties.
Occasionally requires use of a computerized register, calculator, mathematical ability, and talking to others while performing retail sales duties.
Occasionally experiences, climbing steps or stairs, lifting/carrying 0-25 lbs., exposure to dust, dirt, heat and sunlight, chemicals and fertilizers, golf balls in play, wet and other environmental conditions associated with working around golf courses.
Visual capabilities required: good to excellent vision, depth perception, wide field of vision, color vision.
Job experiences approximately 7 hours indoors and hour outdoors.
Tools, Equipment, and Materials:
Computer, multi-line telephone system, calculator, Fax machine, photocopier, typewriter, computerized register/POS system and other office equipment, reservations tee time sheets, writing instruments, etc.
