Odyssey Golf Foundation Golf Course Tinley Park, Illinois Golf Course Information: The journey leading to the Odyssey Golf Foundation was inspired by a desire to make golf available to more people. In 1990, the Halikias family established the Odyssey Country Club with the goal of making a private golf club experience available to the general public. Very active philanthropically, the Halikias family established a 501(c)(3) non-profit in late 2013 and gifted the course to the Odyssey Golf Foundation to serve veterans, active military personnel and children and adults with special needs. The Odyssey Golf Foundation course is open to the public. The 18-hole course, designed by two-time U.S. Open winner Curtis Strange, provides challenging, championship play. Overview: The Golf Course Maintenance/Equipment Operator, under supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent (GCS) and or Crew Foreman, performs work involving the use of large equipment, including tractors, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, trucks and other turf maintenance related equipment. Functions:
- Operates various types of equipment, including but not limited to, walk behind mowers, triplex mowers, large area reel and rotary style mowers, blowers, sprayers, various heavy equipment and hand-held tools and equipment.
- May operate smaller equipment as directed by GCS and or Crew Foreman.
- Ensures that the equipment cooling system is working at all times; refills fuel and oil daily; cleans equipment daily; and reports equipment problems or failures to the Turf Equipment Technician immediately.
- Provides basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed by the Turf Equipment Technician, and returns equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility.
- Performs other duties related to maintain the golf course as directed by GCS and or Crew Foreman.
- Knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment.
