The Worthington Steel team is seeking a Global Tax Operations Manager to be a key contributor to what will be a newly formed internal tax team as the company builds the foundation for its tax policy and processes. This person will play an important role ensuring day to day tax department operations run smoothly. We seek a smart

and driven tax professional with a solid understanding of ASC740 and US tax laws

This position will be responsible for the direct tax operations for Worthington Steel which will include the US tax compliance and global tax provision. The successful candidate will have excellent task management skills

strong interpersonal competency

and a deep passion for the overall tax process. The role will be supported by tax analysts

the Global Tax Technical Senior Manager

and cross-functional business partners.

Tax Accounting

  • Prepares
manages and/or reviews calculations for all aspects of ASC740

including calculating the effective tax rate

current and deferred tax provisions

taxes payable

and return to provision adjustments.
  • Coordinates the preparation
timely receipt

and review of ASC 740 tax data for US provision.
  • Collaborates with the Company\'s SEC reporting team and manages the preparation of the tax disclosures in accordance with ASC740.
  • Reviews tax account reporting to determine accuracy and works with cross-functional personnel to resolve issues identified.
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls
policies and procedures.
  • Assists with other ASC 740 projects as needed during the quarterly/annual closing process.
Tax Planning
  • Keeps up-to-date on latest trends and legislation to immediately assess impacts to tax provision and compliance processes.
  • Contributes to deployment of tax planning initiatives and transactions.
  • Partners with Global Tax Technical Senior Manger on tax planning projects and M&A transactions to ensure proper integration into the tax department processes.
  • Supports and assists with various ad hoc requests.
Tax Compliance
  • Coordinates and manages the preparation of all U.S. Federal and State income tax returns and ensures accurate and timely reporting.
  • Reviews federal and state income tax returns
extension requests

and estimated tax payments

and supporting workpapers.
  • Identifies and determines US filing requirements for the Company\'s businesses on an annual basis.
  • Analyzes tax consequences of various book / tax differences and tax topics
including accounting methods

fixed assets

stock compensation

and tax credits.
  • Manages federal and state income tax credit initiatives reporting requirements.
Innovation

  • Identifies ways to leverage technology to continuously improve process to collect and analyze data
including automation

simplification

and process rationalization associated with income tax compliance and reporting.
  • Leads the interactions with multiple departments to coordinate information needed to prepare the Company\'s tax provision and tax compliance.
  • Inspires
coaches and mentors tax staff to promote their professional development.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting
Business or related field.
  • CPA or Masters in Accounting or Tax.
  • 9+ years of overall tax experience in a corporate in-house environment and/or public accounting firm with 5+ years experience preparing ASC740 tax provisions.
  • High level of attention to detail
extremely well organized

and able to manage multiple work requirements to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Strong technology skills including Excel
ERP systems

and OneSource Tax Provision.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with C-Corp
LLC

and partnership tax filings.
  • Intermediate understanding of US GAAP
ASC740

and US federal and multi-state tax laws.
  • Passion and experience identifying and implementing process improvements and proficiency in technology and automation tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people and processes to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders (legal
accounting

treasury

etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required
with the ability to plan and execute at strategic and tactical levels.
  • Willingness to participate in multiple areas of tax.
This position will be hybrid (60% in office) and have minimal travel (5%).
