Behavioral Insurance (BI) is a critical element of Manulife\xe2\x80\x99s global strategy and a key differentiator in the Life Insurance market. Reporting to the Head of John Hancock Vitality Program, the Global (BI) Strategic Initiatives Director is responsible for initiating and overseeing/executing BI projects with strategic impact on the Manulife\xe2\x80\x99s businesses across all geographies. This position will mobilize resources and functions across BI and across the company to fulfill strategic BI business initiatives and deliverables.

Key Accountabilities

  • Initiate and execute Global and local Behavioral Insurance (BI) strategic projects and initiatives with aim towards achievement of both business goals and customer centricity.
  • Establish and monitor post-implementation success metrics and make recommendations based on the results.
  • Provide supervision of smaller projects to ensure successful completion within proscribed time frames and budgets to maintain peak operating performance levels.
  • Ensure that systems, procedures and controls are in place to reduce business risks and produce operational efficiencies.
  • Track all issues, decisions and actions.
  • Identify issues, escalate as required, and recommend solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Present and communicate to leadership on the status of the strategic initiatives regularly to insure they remain informed of progress.
  • Work closely with internal partners and stakeholders to ensure initiatives meet strategic business goals, such as: Distribution, Actuarial, Finance, Marketing, PR, IS, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, Tax, etc.
  • Actively manage external partner and stakeholder relationships, expectations, and their delivery, including involvement in commercial agreements, financial arrangements, establishing and monitoring of KPIs and SLAs.
  • Keep current on industry and adjacent industry trends. Bring forth options and recommendations to management including creative ways to keep the global programs fresh and current.
  • Act as a Global BI program/platform SME.
  • Work with stakeholders to help prioritize the most high-impact and time-sensitive needs of the business and customers.
Job Requirements
  • University degree. MBA or another business-oriented post-graduate education would be an asset
  • 10+ years of progressive business analysis, strategic planning, and/or project management experience supporting large size and critical projects
  • Proven expertise in leading components of large size and critical projects or assignments, delegate structured assignments and monitoring progress and assessing success metrics
  • Demonstrated successful strategic thinking, policy development and implementation experience
  • Superior organizational, time, and project management skills
  • Superior understanding of business, operational, and sales processes
  • Superior influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Expertise in evaluating feasibility or practicality of ideas and options, assess risks and trade-offs and, make informed and timely decisions
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and influence associates at all levels and at a distance

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location Boston, Massachusetts

Salary range is expected to be between $111,900.00 USD - $201,420.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
