WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The GIS Specialist supports fiber optic and conduit engineering projects by developing, maintaining, and analyzing geospatial data related to underground and aerial utility infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in planning, design, as-built documentation, and project execution for fiber conduit construction projects. The ideal candidate has strong GIS technical skills, experience with utility or telecommunications data, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and field teams.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Create, edit, andmaintainGIS datasets for fiber optic networks, conduit systems, handholes, vaults, poles, and related infrastructure
Support route planning, design layouts, and constructability analysis using GIS tools
Integrate engineering drawings,redlines, and field data into GIS systems
Develop andmaintainaccurateas-built records throughout project lifecycles
Perform spatial analysis to support engineering decisions, permitting, and cost estimating
Prepare maps, exhibits, and reports for internal teams, clients, andpermittingagencies
Coordinate with field crews to collect,validate, and update spatial data
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company and client GIS standards
Manage data imports/exports between GIS platforms, CAD drawings, and client systems
Assistwith troubleshooting GIS data issues and improving workflows
WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Valid U.S. Driver's License
Strong attention to detail
Associate's orBachelor'sdegree in GIS, Geography, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of GIS experience, preferably in utilitiesortelecommunications
Proficiencywith ESRI products
Experience working with utility network data, fiber routes, or underground infrastructure
Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, construction drawings, and as-builts
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Strong communicationand collaboration
