The Orange County Tax Administration Department has an opening for a GIS Database Administrator.
The work involves the responsibility of senior-level specialized, analytical, and applications support in multiple functional areas requiring geographical information system (GIS) geospatial data and mapping resources. An employee in this class performs challenging technical tasks using ESRI, ArcGIS, and ArcPRO software, SDE Database, SQL Server and/or other interactive application software to support the reliable operation of GIS across Orange County Government departments.
Key responsibilities include analyzing user requirements; project management; creating, integrating, and maintaining interactive GIS applications and databases; and managing system architecture and integration with other systems, workflow and system modifications and enhancements. Performs moderately demanding tasks to assist in the customization of software and applications.
Work is performed under general direction from the GIS and Land Records Manager with considerable leeway to exercise independent judgment within local, state, and federal regulations and procedures, prioritizing multiple work assignments, planning and accomplishing projects, addressing customer needs and initiative in work methods. An employee in this position does not supervise staff but may supervise the development of custom GIS applications, including overseeing outside developers when utilized. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field
AND
four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in GIS administration, development, and application support;
OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. A higher degree does not substitute for work experience.
Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
