is responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating geographic information system (GIS) databases and producing accurate spatial data visualizations. This role supports planning, engineering, and operational teams by ensuring that mapping products, spatial data, and analytical outputs meet high standards of accuracy, consistency, and usability. The GIS Analyst plays a key role in integrating geospatial information to guide decision-making and enhance service planning across Agile Dream Team projects.
Responsibilities
Create, manage, and update
GIS databases
, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness of spatial data.
Produce
maps, charts, dashboards, and spatial visualizations
for internal and public use.
Conduct
field data verification
and resolve discrepancies in mapping and data layers.
Analyze and interpret spatial data to support
transportation planning, infrastructure management, and operational decision-making
.
Maintain and improve
metadata and documentation
for datasets according to industry and organizational standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (planning, engineering, IT) to support GIS integration into ongoing projects.
Utilize
ESRI ArcGIS tools
and related software for data editing, geoprocessing, and visualization.
Stay informed of new technologies, data standards, and spatial analysis techniques to continuously improve system performance.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Experience:
Entry-level position; experience or coursework in
data analysis, GIS applications (ESRI ArcGIS), and Microsoft Office Suite
preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with
ESRI ArcGIS software
, spatial databases, and mapping principles.
Understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial data structures.
Experience with field data collection tools (e.g., ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123) is a plus.
Residency:
Must reside in or be willing to relocate to
Washington D.C.
(on-site position).
