JOB DESCRIPTION - GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT




Position Summary/General Description:





The General Superintendent is responsible for the oversight and coordination of assigned Superintendent(s) with their associated projects and subordinates. The General Superintendent will work with Project Management, Warehouse and Estimating to determine appropriate strategies for successful project completion. The General Superintendent will provide direction and guidance to their assigned Superintendent(s) to ensure that tasks are completed, appropriate paperwork is being submitted, project schedules are adhered to, and project profitability is maintained.

Management Responsibilities:




Oversee field operations for all assigned New Construction, Service and Technology projects. Oversee assigned Superintendents. Conduct regular meetings with Superintendents to review and assess assigned project(s) status. Maintain appropriate levels of field staff for all active projects to ensure schedule adherence and prevent labor budget overrun. Implement and coordinate training sessions for field staff based on individual employee and project needs. Coordinate all labor assignments as required to complete all assigned projects, ensuring field staff meets the skill level required for the successful execution of a project. Adhere to and enforce policy and procedures, work site rules, practices, standard operating procedures and other management control documents. Address any discipline issues or concerns for Superintendents (and foremen if need be) that have been identified and reported by staff. Coordinate all documentation and discipline with Human Resources according to policy. Strictly enforce substance and alcohol abuse (or suspicion of abuse) in collaboration with Human Resources to take corrective action. Adhere to and report any violation of EEOC employment laws including harassment, discrimination, etc. Assist in the hiring and training of new field employees. Assist in the separation process as necessary in the event of any policy violations by field employees. Provide supervision in the planning of materials, tools, equipment, and labor needs in order make sure the Superintendent is adhering to the budget, contract documents, and project schedule. Perform weekly reviews with Superintendents to ensure all project documentation is maintained including Daily Logs, 3-Week Look Aheads, Pre-Task Plans, Material Lists, and any other job specific documents. Perform reviews with Superintendents to ensure current and accurate records are maintained regarding the ordering and storing of all materials, equipment, and tools. Assist Superintendents in interfacing with subcontractors to ensure schedule, scope and quality requirements are met.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:




Maintain a general understanding of the plans and specifications for each project to better assist Project Management and field staff. Assist in the execution of all start-ups, change orders, permits, inspections, work schedule, RFI's, ASIs, and material lists. Assist in coordinating line spot requests and ensure that all projects remain current. Inspect all projects on a regular basis to ensure that installation is being performed in strict compliance with the National Electric Code, state and local codes, and per the contractual scope of work. Report inconsistencies to Project Management immediately and recommend corrective actions. Compare as-built vs. contract drawings to ensure that documentation is being carried out in a timely and accurate manner. Take corrective action if necessary and notify Project Management of non-compliance. Understand and help coordinate the installation procedures of key electrical equipment using submittals and installation instructions provided with the equipment. Manage rental equipment (ordering, usage and return) to ensure appropriate equipment is on-site, arrives when needed, and is on-site for only as long as necessary without incurring additional transportation charges. Review and approve Material Lists from projects to ensure appropriate material is requested and utilized. Coordinate with Warehouse to ensure any material ordered is cost and schedule efficient. Provide regular reports to Project Management concerning overall and specific field operations. Review current and projected budgets, and associated costs, for all projects with Project Management. Assist in bid review sessions with Estimating and Project Management. Assist with oversight and maintenance of warehouse. Determine and maintain project specific Pre-Fabrication expectations and efforts. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned. Attend all required meetings and prepare for presentation of all pertinent information

Education, Experience, Certifications & Other:




Minimum five (5) years supervisory role of successful electrical projects. Minimum ten (10) years electrical installation experience. Equivalent experience will be considered. State issued EE98J Journeyman Electrician License required. State issued Driver's License required. OSHA 30 and NFPA 70E training preferred. CPR/First Aid training preferred. * Must pass a preemployment alcohol and drug screening.
