The General Manager is accountable for all aspects of managing a single retail dispensary, as well as additional projects and duties as assigned. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring operational excellence, a strong culture of compliance, and an elevated customer experience across all areas of the business.
This leader drives the business through a focus on hospitality (customer service, sales training, product knowledge, loyalty, and leadership development), product (visual presentation, product performance, and promotional execution), and operations (receiving orders, enforcing policies and procedures, expense control, compliance, and loss prevention).
The General Manager must demonstrate a passion for process excellence, a strong drive for results, and the ability to lead, coach, and influence others effectively. The GM oversees the financial performance of the store, responds proactively to business needs, and develops strategies around sales trends to drive profitable top-line growth. This role also requires demonstrated experience in recruiting, assessing, and developing talent within a fast-paced, regulated retail environment.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Performance:
Meet or exceed goals related to total store sales, profitability, and operational excellence.
Forecast and adjust payroll hours to maximize productivity, achieve sales and payroll targets, and complete workload effectively.
Build a team that embodies the Green Releaf brand by delivering exceptional service and driving customer loyalty to increase repeat visits.
Review and interpret financial and operational reports regularly, including store visit results, audits, and sales performance metrics.
Identify underperforming metrics and develop actionable strategies leveraging company programs, tools, and resources to improve business results.
Collaborate with ownership and corporate partners to communicate business trends, staffing needs, and improvement opportunities.
Leadership and Team Development:
Create and ensure a cohesive, inclusive, and motivating work environment.
Embody the culture, values, and tenets of Green Releaf while fully supporting company purpose, goals, and key objectives.
Attract, hire, and retain a diverse and talented team that represents the Green Releaf brand.
Place the right people in the right roles to build sustainable success within the operation.
Train, coach, and develop team members using company programs, tools, and consistent performance feedback.
Create an environment that inspires, empowers, and encourages the growth and engagement of all associates.
Model a culture of open communication by sharing company strategy, updates, and performance expectations with the team.
Promote a spirit of teamwork by working alongside the management team, establishing clear priorities, and providing consistent direction.
Lead by example, setting the standard for professionalism, accountability, and customer experience.
Support staff development through performance evaluations, goal setting, and recognition of achievement.
Operations:
Be proficient in and ensure full compliance with all Green Releaf policies, state regulations, and standard operating procedures.
Use the company's scheduling tools effectively to ensure proper coverage and provide an exceptional customer experience while reducing loss and maintaining labor efficiency.
Protect company assets and minimize loss by enforcing store standards and procedures related to workplace safety, inventory control, compliance, and loss prevention.
Oversee product receiving, order fulfillment, and cash handling with accuracy and accountability.
Ensure all compliance documentation and METRC reporting are completed accurately and on schedule.
Support continuous improvement by implementing company programs and initiatives and encouraging buy-in from team members.
Maintain clear and professional communication with internal departments, including purchasing, compliance, and HR.
Project a positive image of Green Releaf to employees, customers, vendors, and the community.
Embody the culture, values, and mission of Green Releaf in all aspects of leadership and operations.
Assist with additional duties as needed, including but not limited to: inventory management, sales consulting, delivery acceptance, community outreach, security coordination, visual merchandising, and acting as interim GM for other locations when required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in retail management, preferably in cannabis, pharmacy, or regulated industries.
Proven success in leading teams, achieving sales goals, and maintaining compliance standards.
Strong financial acumen and ability to interpret business reports, sales data, and operational metrics.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.
Must meet all state-mandated requirements for employment in a licensed cannabis facility.
