Union Tank Car Company is seeking applicants to become a member of our production team at our full-service rail tank car repair shop in Evanston, Wyoming. Candidates do not need prior experience to apply - all that is required is a strong work ethic, and ability and willingness to learn or improve on a skill.

Union Tank Car Company's regulatory, engineering, and commercial expertise make UTLX the preferred source of railcars and services for many of its customers. Primary Job Functions

This is not an exhaustive list and employees in these classifications frequently may be required to perform additional duties. Not all classifications will be required to perform all job functions.


Trains in and performs all daily work assignments as required by the Supervisor and Lead Man. Assists various plant production personnel and under the direction of skilled labor, performs own car repair work involving welding, burning, fitting, grinding, blasting, and painting. Acts as a safety watch for tank car entry. Understands regulations and safety policies that apply to the assigned job and department. Ensures completion of all documentation as defined by the Union Tank Car Company Quality Assurance Manual. Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner and reports potential hazards. Participates actively in shop organization and cleanliness.

Eligibility Requirements

Must have a high school diploma, GED, or pass a Combined Basic Skills Test Must have a strong work ethic, and ability and willingness to learn new skills Must be available for all 3 shifts, and willing to work daily and weekend overtime as allowed by the Union Contract

Environmental & Working Conditions

Moderate to heavy physical effort involved Climbing, walking, and balancing on top of a rail car Possibly working in confined spaces and at heights of 4' or higher
