Job Summary:

Iowa Floor Care is seeking a dedicated and reliable General Cleaner to maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout the Kirkwood campus. The ideal candidate will contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors by performing various cleaning duties.

Key Responsibilities:

Routine Cleaning:

Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.

Waste Management:

Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste materials; recycle as appropriate.

Restroom Maintenance:

Clean and restock restrooms, ensuring sanitary conditions and availability of supplies.

Cleaning Supplies Management:

Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, notifying the supervisor when supplies need to be reordered.

Safety Compliance:

Follow all safety protocols and guidelines for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Equipment Care:

Operate and maintain cleaning equipment in accordance with training and safety standards.

Special Projects:

Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned, including deep cleaning during school breaks or events.

Reporting Issues:

Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the facilities manager in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous cleaning or janitorial experience is a plus, but not required. Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards. Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.

Training:

Orientation:

New hires will undergo a orientation to familiarize them with Kirkwood Community College's policies, procedures, and expectations.

Safety Training:

Employees will receive training on the proper handling of cleaning chemicals, safe equipment operation, and emergency procedures.

On-the-Job Training:

Shadow experienced staff to learn effective cleaning techniques and protocols specific to the campus facilities.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
