Job Description

Concord University seeks a creative and enthusiastic team member to serve as the Assistant Director for the Southern West Virginia (SWV) GEAR UP Partnership serving five school districts, Mercer, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers and Wyoming County Schools.




The GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) Partnership is funded by the US Department of Education to increase the college-going rate of low-income secondary school students in these school systems.




GEAR UP provides training and support for administrators and teachers at secondary schools with a majority of low-income students and support and assistance directly to students to enhance preparation for post-secondary education.




This is a twelve-month, full-time position, contingent upon continued external funding.
Duties and Responsibilities

Duty/Responsibility


Act as primary liaison to project partners Provide bi-annual evaluations of coordinator performance Present regular data reports in staff meetings, and monthly reports in coordinator meetings; and Oversee the database + Review services data entry as a cross-reference for monthly reimbursements
+ Provide database training for school district staff to identify at-risk students
+ Liaise with external evaluators
+ Provide data reports for stakeholders and annual reports
+ Implement required family, educator, and student surveys
+ Maintain confidentiality and data security.
Coordinate development and review of annual work plans with partners. + Complete quarterly review of work plan progress for each subrecipient and amend work plans as needed.

At a minimum, the successful applicant for this position must possess:A Master's degree in education, management, or public administration


Required Skills


3 years of achievement and proven leadership in administrative positions Experience working with and in public schools preferred Demonstrated knowledge of West Virginia's colleges and universities, admissions requirements, and financial aid Superior organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Exceptional writing skills are a must Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel Data management and analysis experience preferred
