Job Description


Summary Responsible for all aspects of accounting for the Aerospace Software business within Commercial Engines & Services. Aerospace Software is a Software as a Service business with a global customer base and consistent annual growth in topline revenue. The Aerospace Software Controller will be accountable for delivering timely, high quality financial reporting information for use in the Software business. Key responsibilities include ensuring technical compliance with US GAAP, financial and operational internal controls, and delivering operational accounting excellence to support the business\xe2\x80\x99 financial planning and analysis needs. The Aerospace Software Controller will be the first point of contact for all aspects of accounting related to Aerospace Software and will have accounting responsibility for commercial transactions, including revenue recognition and billing, as well as oversight of operational aspects of day-to-day accounting across the business.



Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for general accounting, policy application and process administration for all finance cycles including revenue recognition, receivables/payables, intercompany, etc. for commercial activity within the business
  • Responsible to coordinate with Controllership teams in each legal entity as required to ensure accurate business financial reporting for both US GAAP and Statutory requirements
  • Understand and interpret applicable US GAAP, GE policies, Enterprise Standards, SOP and Process Maps to deliver compliant and globally competitive financial process/accounting services. Responsible to create and maintain SOPs as may be needed for new or evolving processes.
  • Ensure account reconciliations for Aerospace Software are prepared and reviewed in accordance with US GAAP and submitted timely each period.
  • Developing specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in the unique GAAP / IFRS standards and guidance applicable to a software business. Serve as best practice/quality resource and have awareness of latest functional developments in own area. Contribute towards strategy and policy development and ensures delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Provide technical controllership support to the business finance and operations team, specifically through assisting the sales and commercial teams with contractual support then reviewing contracts to verify revenue schedule for contracts over agreed value threshold or with multiple elements
  • ERP Superuser of the RMCS module in Fusion \xe2\x80\x93 ensures application delivers expected accounting results and interfaces with DT to improve module and raises issues as they arise to DT team
  • Responsible for the preparation and analysis of accurate financial statements and disclosures based on actual results. Consolidate, analyze and report financials in compliance with reporting regulations
  • Prepare and present quarterly Balance Sheet review for Aerospace Software business
  • Completes business migration and ERP implementations required to fully transition business into Aerospace, including resolution of open items following migration
  • Skilled influencer, able to communicate complex messages to others. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Lead projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
  • Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team with responsibility for approving the team\xe2\x80\x99s priorities.   • Support technical accounting research and decisioning related to the Aviage joint venture.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in finance and/or accounting from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting or finance position
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Established project management skills
  • Ability to deliver results on time
