We are seeking an experienced and strategic

Games Senior Software Engineer

with a deep love for TTRPGs to join our small, creative team. In this role, you will be a leader in our development and design efforts, helping to define and implement features that ensure our platform is compelling, fun, reliable, and performs at a high level as we scale.

What You'll Do

Lead the end-to-end development of major features (real-time maps, rich media tools, character sheets) from concept to deployment. Design and implement highly scalable, performant architecture for our distributed real-time platform using modern game development patterns. Research and integrate emerging technologies and development patterns to continuously evolve the core platform's capabilities. Oversee code quality, review pull requests, and establish engineering standards and best practices for the team. Lead and mentor junior developers, providing guidance on best engineering practices and complex system design challenges. Troubleshoot complex technical issues across the stack and collaborate with QA to resolve issues efficiently. Conduct performance testing to ensure the platform remains stable under various load conditions.

Who You Are

An avid TTRPG player with a genuine love for the genre and a strong desire to ensure a high-quality user experience.

5+ years

of professional experience in software engineering, ideally focused on distributed web applications or real-time games. Proficient with our core stack (TypeScript/JavaScript, React, Node.js, WebRTC, Firebase/Firestore/Functions, Pub/Sub, Mongo/Redis) and experience designing robust APIs. Highly analytical and a strategic thinker who can design complex system architectures for a rapidly evolving platform. A proven leader and mentor with experience guiding team members on technical decision-making, quality standards, and code reviews. A creative problem-solver who enjoys tackling difficult challenges and finding innovative solutions. Have a Lean startup mindset pushing forward product enhancements quickly, but ensuring that decisions are reversible. A self-starter who is driven and able to take a task from zero to done with minimal supervision. Kind and thoughtful communicator
